Dr. Jean Miller is the founder and has a technology partner and a longtime friend Dr. Carrie Windham who worked and retired from Princeton University as a Senior Academic Vice President. UAS grew from a 10-member team to a 150-member team in the last 15 years. The company has been involved in medium to large projects ranging from ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system implementation and data analysis for small, medium and large academic institutions over the years. The company specializes in bringing a solution for educational institutes. Recently the company is also venturing into working with private institutions and publishing companies to provide learning management systems (LMS) and course content. The company sees a tremendous opportunity with the growth of online learning and MOOC s (Massive Open Online Courses).

The leaders of the company realize that there are several opportunities to manage the various processes in an academic Institution. With the evolution of the network infrastructure, the widespread internet connectivity and the availability of smartphones and tablets; there is a paradigm shift in the way we manage our processes in an academic institution. The State funds all the local State Colleges and universities. The new Governor of the State has called for tight fiscal regulations and higher accountability. All College and University funding are to be reviewed and adjusted. All educational institutes were asked to look at their efficiency and productivity. The laws regulating financial aids are made to follow stringent policies. Wilmington University is a fast-growing college in the coastal region of Florida. The college serves over thirty thousand students over the year in its community. The college has shown significant growth over the last four years. The college has observed a tremendous growth in online classes and online students. Students wants more accessibility through the web for all University services. Residential students have also grown in numbers and are taking online classes. They too, are seeking all services via the web and mobile environment. Majority of the students attending the college get financial assistance from the state. The college plans to keep its competitive edge over the other colleges in the area by providing better services to the students and the community. The college is looking at technology solutions to manage the student and other services efficiently. The college already uses a variety of applications that are home grown or acquired from third-party vendors. The college is looking to pilot one department and their students with this new application. Companys role:

On behalf of your company, your team wants to sell your services to the college. The current economic conditions could provide an opportunity for your company. The companys expertise in the educational system technology solutions could provide consulting services to the educational institutes in managing its funds and increase productivity. Your job is to identify the greatest need, gather the requirements, justify the return on investment and offer them a solution based on the need and the investment return. Your groups role is to investigate, analyze, assess and propose solutions to the college. TS would follow the entire SDLC (Software/Systems Design Life Cycle) cycle in developing a turnkey solution for the college. Your company would be responsible for the implementation and also the support of the product. Depending on the success of the project, other Institutions could also adopt your solution.
