Please read the information below and provide a personal response that must be substantive.

In 1981 International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) introduced its first personal computer. In 1990, Legend PC launched its name brand into the market and later in 2003 announces the birth of its new logo, Lenovo. In 2004 Lenovo announced an agreement to acquire IBM's personal computing division (PCD) to eventually complete the acquisition in 2005 and become the new international IT competitor and third-largest PC company globally. Next, from 2010 to 2011, Lenovo introduced its first smartphone and formed the Mobile Internet Digital Home (MIDH) business unit to take advantage of consumer devices like smartphones, tablets, and smart TVs. By 2014 Lenovo acquired the System X server business and days later acquired Motorola from Google making Lenovo third worldwide in both servers and smartphones. In 2016 Lenovo expanded to partner with SAP by developing cloud solutions and collaborated with Google to create the world's first mobile device with 3D motion tracking and depth-sensing (Lenovo, 2020).

According to Abraham (2012), "Market position is the position in an industry that a company occupies ranked by market share; the market leader is #1, followed by #2, #3, and so on" (Section 6.4). Lenovo's market position in the PC industry is #1, with a market share of 24.1% (Smith, 2020). The strategic alternative that Lenovo used was a creative alternative. As previously stated in the history summary, Lenovo took advantage of other technology and continued to acquire different segments like servers and smartphones to stay competitive. Today, Lenovo is already tapping into the 5G era by creating a laptop capable of using this technology, which will be the first of its kind (Evangelho, 2020). It is this type of innovation that proves its strategic alternative.

An excellent strategic alternative for future growth and improvement would be for Lenovo to continue their creative alternative and diversification. Creating an alternative strategy bundle would also assist in directing their ideas in the right direction. They are number one for a reason, and if they continue to always make an environment for change, it shows that they are versatile in their technology efforts and are not afraid to adapt to the needs of the consumer.
