General Motors (G.M.) to pay financial penalty for unethical actions: general motors (G.M.) has been instructed to pay 900 million American dollars for their involvement in the ignition switch criminal investigation. in addition it is expected that (G.M.) will have to pay an extra 575 million dollars to settle hundreds of civil lawsuits ) legal complaints) over faulty car ignition switches on small vehicles. The decision was made because G.M failed to disclose (inform the public about the safety defect (facult ) by 2005 GM knew that sometimes the ignition switch would just turn off and by 2012 they knew that this impacted on the power steering brakes and air bags. They continued to sell their cars, without information the public and did not recall their vehicles.
