An ethical example in the professional conduct of a housekeeper manager is to always discipline and report an employee no matter how personally you may know the employee in question. As a housekeeping manager, if you decide to not take a complaint that was made to an employee that you have close relationship with seriously, then you are not treating all of your employees fairly and equally. A manager of any department must be ready to punish an employee if they do something punishable. No matter the gravity of the complaint, a manager must be able to let go of their personal feelings in the workplace and be a boss.
An unethical example in the professional conduct of a housekeeper manager is by not following the same rules you set on your employees. As a housekeeping manager, if you do not let your employees take work materials that are being used in the hotel to be taken home, then you should be doing the same thing. You cannot expect employees to want to follow your orders if you are being bluntly hypocritical, especially if you do not even hide the fact that you take supplies to your house. Little acts like these mean a lot to employees since as a manager, you are the leading example of what needs to be done to succeed in these property's department. If the collar on yourself is loosened then everyone's collar should be loosened as well, before your employees leave or make the work environment even more toxic.
