Please research effective interview questions and techniques and report on them in a PPT presentation. This presentation is done from the perspective of the interviewer, not the person being interviewed. Thus your material should discuss effective techniques for interviewing someone. Assuming you are a leader or senior manager, teach me how to interview someone for a middle-management position!
The design of the PPT is up to you but include the following:
A title slide
An introductory slide describing briefly what you will be presenting and why it is important
Several slides that bullet good and bad interview techniques (not questions)(at least 5 good and 5 bad).
Bullets are fine but a sub-bullet beneath explaining a bit further may be necessary. Here is an example (blue font):
List the top 5 interview questions you would ask someone if you were hiring someone for middle management (remembering what middle managers do). Consider asking questions that will reveal both SKILL (talents) and TRAIT (personality). These questions should be something like:
Explain a project that you worked on as a team and the outcome
Explain a leadership role you held and how you were able to manage a group of people or a project,
Include a slide with 5 categories of questions you may not ask a potential interviewee and how would you avoid the pitfalls of forbidden questions. Research this and cite sources! But do not copy a list from a website; please re-word the questions.
Provide a thought-provoking question you feel would reveal your candidate's character and tell me why. This is an important part of the assignment that students often miss. Really think about what you would ask a middle management candidate. You can be creative like: You are in a room where there is an elephant and a 10x10x10 box Without harming the elephant, how would you get the animal into the box?
Guidelines:
Minimum of 10-12 slides plus title and references slides.
Therefore, 12-14 slides are expected in your submission.
Your grade won't be negatively impacted for submitting MORE than 14, but could be for submitting fewer than 12 slides.
