Discussion #$1).$Hi$,$my name is Anita and my preferred pronouns are she$/$her$.$My goals for this class are to be able to pass this class as well as gain a better understanding of accounting. As of right now I am not sure I know a lot about accounting a hope to learn important and key details about accounting that will help me and my future career by the end of this class. I am looking forward to learning new things!

Some factors that may prevent me from earning an A are distractions and stress. I like to turn off my phone, or put it to charge in another room while I am working so I can really focus on my work. I also have a lot of siblings and can't focus when all of them are walking around or making noise so I prefer to do school around the after noon when most of them are gone or my favorite, at night when they are all sleeping. I tend to stress a lot when it comes to my classes because exams, and usually there's a lot of assignments that need to be done and it's very hard to keep track of them in my mind.$$So I like to write down all my assignments and their due dates. And for exams I try to be as prepared as possible, although it's a little difficult to tell if you prepared well enough.

$$I have $10$siblings$,$ I like to cook and bake, I play the piano and I also sing. My favorite sport is volley ball and I enjoy running or taking walks.$$

Discussion# $2).$ My preferred name is Morgan, and my pronouns are He$/$Him$.$I am $28$years old, pursuing an associate's and then likely a bachelor's degree. My major is accounting with a minor in business. For this particular class my goal is to gain more knowledge of the core accounting concepts that drive this field.

My life continuously gives me obstacles to my studies and I spend a lot of my time overcoming those obstacles to maintain my courses. I currently have a complicated life at work and home. Time management is one of the most critical skills I continue to develop to help me succeed in school. I started going back to school a year ago now, for the first time in a decade. In the time since I last attended college, I find a lot has changed both within myself, and the world we live in$.$My habits are not used to accommodating studies. I've never had online classes until now, but this post$-$covid era is highly centered around web$-$based appointments, studies, etc. Being at home and making sure I hold myself accountable through day$-$to$-$day happenings is a new type of balance I am working to master.

Between school, family, and household maintenance and errands, I spend my time streaming. I picked up streaming on TikTok on $10/29/2024,$as a fun little way to potentially bring in some side money. The result has been the growth of an incredible community, and a highly successful stream that is far beyond anything I ever imagined it would be$.$I have been a gamer most of my adult life, and realize I can actually turn that into a profitable hobby while surrounding myself with wonderful people I get to know because of this little adventure I've been on$.$

In this class I hope to begin to learn the language of business! I have heard accounting is not like regular math and after taking an intro class last term, I definitely agree! I have done well in classes such as algebra but I know accounting will be much different. I hope to build confidence in this subject and learn to work through my mistakes. I also expect to know more about accounting and hopefully apply it later while working on my degree.

There are a few factors that may prevent me from earning an $"$A$"$in this class but one main one is I do work a full$-$time job. Most of my days consist of work which creates the challenge of having a limited amount of time to complete school work. One way I am working on overcoming this is by only taking two classes this term. I took three classes last term and while I succeeded, it was difficult and I do not want to burn myself out. I also have a plan to do most of my schoolwork on my weekends so that I am able to be fully rested and have several hours to work on assignments. I also consider myself to have great time management skills so I am able to plan ahead and devote time to school.

One fun fact about me is I am trying to learn how to crochet! For my birthday I recieved the Woobles as a gift and it has gotten me very interested in crochet. I am excited to try my own projects one day! Another fun fact about me is I enjoy physical activity. I take my dog, Kiya, on walks most days and I have recently gotten into cycling! I tried my first spin class in early December and have been having a great time incorporating it into my routine. I also enjoy hiking! I honestly only do it once every $3$to $6$months but I hope to make it a monthly thing. Let me know if you have some good trail suggestions!
