Integrating mathematical concepts of properties of integers into Social Studies, Science, and Music can improve students' understanding by connecting abstract math ideas to real-world applications in these fields. The different subjects offer unique opportunities for meaningful integration and authentic learning experiences which utilize the key properties of integers such as associativity, identity, and inverses (White, 2022). As I have gotten older and worked different jobs it is interesting to see how math and integers are used in fields like Land Surveying in Construction to make sure everything being built is level and symmetric to prevent errors later on due to missed calculations and unproper measurements.

Social Studies

In Social Studies, integers can be utilized when students explore timelines that include both BCE which are negative integers and CE which are positive integers., Integers in social studies can allow students to understand concepts such as zero, addition, and subtraction when calculating the years between historical events or calculating the distance form a place on the map to where they are at in the world.

Science

In Science, integers are relevant when analyzing temperature where negative numbers represent measurements below zero to positive numbers depending on the temperature. They can also be used to calculate changes in elevation or sea level, and interpreting data such as gains or losses in experimental results or net forces.

Music

For Music, integers are utilized through musical intervals and rhythmic cycles. Many musicians use integer ratios to describe pitch intervals which helps structure repeating patterns and polyrhythms.
