Question: Please Show all workings, the answer is b ) 1 2 2 4 kN c ) 1 7 8 3 kN: Part b ) A

Please Show all workings, the answer is b)1224kN c)1783kN:
Part b)
A shallow foundation, with width of 1.5m and length of 2.1m, is subjected to an
eccentric vertical load with an eccentricity of 0.1m and 0.15m in the width and length direction, respectively. The foundation is to be founded at a depth of 1.2m in a layer of clay, which is subjected to variation in ground water level.
Using the guidelines provided in the Annex D of the Eurocode 7- Geotechnical Design
(see Appendix 1), determine the ultimate bearing capacity of the foundation
immediately following the construction assuming that the water table is at a depth of 0.3m below the ground level.
The soil properties for these conditions are: : dry=17kNm3,sat=20kNm3, the
undrained shear strength cu=85kNm2.
Part c)
Over a period of time the water level stabilizes at a depth of 0.6m below the ground
level. Assuming drained soil conditions, determine the ultimate bearing capacity of the
foundation for this scenario.
The soil properties for these conditions are: dry =17kNm3,sat=20kNm3 and average
friction angle '=33.
