The company decided to keep the inventory of vehicles by using a database system. The system must effectively manage information about vehicles, customers, the rental records and the damage records of the vehicles. The CEO of the company explains the details he wants to capture for each vehicle. This information includes the unique registration number of the vehicle, the manufacturing company, the model number, the year of manufacturing, the maximum number of passengers, the total number of mileage, the last maintenance date and the rental price per day. In additional to vehicles, the system also keep track of the customers. The information of the customer will also be recorded in the system. This information includes the first name, the last name, the email address, the contact number and the payment information. The company only accept credit card as the payment method. In order to make the system to be more user friendly, customers can choose to store the credit card information in the system. Moreover, the company may also send newsletter to them by using email. However, customers can decided not to receive newsletter. Customer can register to the system first and rent a vehicle later. When a customer want to rent a car, he first choose a vehicle from the inventory. He also need reserve a pick-up date and time, and state the expected return date and time. Since accidents may happened on the road, the customer must buy an insurance each time he rent a vehicle. The insurance policy number must be recorded in the database. When he returned the vehicle, the number of mileage travelled are also be recorded. Each rental contract must be identified by a unique number. Scratches and damages of a vehicle must also be recorded in the system. Customers need to check the vehicle body and find out if there are any scratches and damages before he pick up the vehicle. When returning the vehicle, staffs will compare with the record and identify new scratches and damages. Some damages must be fixed before the next rental.
