If a government is not strategic, its workers in those markets are very vulnerable and many of the times end up getting hurt. I think Representative Forman is faced with a very difficult decision. This is not because of anything he has done personally, but because of the reluctant approach that America must adapt strategic plans to the inevitability to globalization. I believe that if Americans want to become competitive in this new world of globalization, we need to do what is best for our people and not what is best for corporations. The first step the United States is taking a page out of Germany and other Nordic countries books and strive to have the most educated workforce that we can have. Representative Forman should be a staunch advocate for more investment of American tax dollars into educational institutions, programs, and skill trades. Regarding his decision on the Vietnam tariff, we must first understand that just because New Balance is manufacturing its products in the United States does not automatically mean they help more United States citizens than Nike. Nike is headquartered here in the United States, which produces thousands of jobs. We also must consider the management and sales associate jobs created here in the United States on Nikes retail end. More importantly, it is the American company Nike that is a leader globally in picking up the world is most vulnerable out of extreme conditions of poverty by giving them a manufacturing job. The American consumer is just as important to our government as the working individual is. It is my belief that Representative Forman should pursue the reduction of tariffs on Vietnamese imports while simultaneously push for education and jobs programs here in the United States. Each of these companies are headquartered here in the United States and the profits will end up here in the States eventually. The bottom lines is that we must be willing to take the appropriate steps to make sure that our consumers get the most competitive pricing as possible. This enables Americans to save, have more purchasing power, and make it easier to pay off our national debt.
