My answer

The hospital being manpower intensive industries employs large number of employees including doctors ,nurses, paramedic staff, non paramedic etc. They have different motivational needs. In large hospital due to matrix of employees it becomes quite difficult to satisfy motivational needs of employees.

The groups that have low motivation levels are females and least motivation in nurses . The hierarchy includes Paramedic ( 64.03),Non Paramedic (60.85) , doctors (57.88) and least in nurses (48.78).

The reasons why nurses have low motivational levels includes improper recruitment policy, improper deployment, low carrear growths, lesser options for trainings, poor defined job description, and priority towards family considering the rural segments of the population. The motivational level is in Paramedic follwed by Non medic, doctors and least in nurses. The other reasons for the low motivation can be poor work environment, lack of job security, Low payments, and lack of sense towards job . Also at the same time lack of promotion and salary hike could also be responsible.

The hospital manager should focus on increasing the level of job security , providing a good working environment, proper rules and regulations, paying reasonably and creating a sense of responsibility towards the job. At the same time workers performance can be made better by creating their interest in work through various motivational methods that includes both monetary as well as non monetary motivators.

Healthcare organizations are manpower intensive industries. Though driven by protocols, human touch has more psychological and healing impact than medications. Being manpower intensive, motivation levels of the employees significantly affect the satisfaction levels of the patients and their relatives. Like for most of the service sectors where human factor is crucial, similarly, those working in a hospital play a crucial role in medical care and treatment, and authorities should give particular attention to their motivational needs and demands. Motivating is the management process of influencing behaviour based on the knowledge of what make people tick .

TheLeader should focus on providing favourable and safe working condition; flexible assignments; flexible duty hours; good collaboration between occupational groups; leave provision and compensatory leave, etc. The reasons for nurses being the least satisfied in study could be due to improper recruitment policy, improper deployment, few career growth opportunities, lesser option for trainings, poorly defined job description and priority towards family considering the rural segment of population. Further studies are required for investigation of lower level of motivation among nurses in government teaching hospitals. The leaders should develop proper carrear growth opportunities , develop a proper recruitmentment policy as well arrangements for good training programs as apart of their job. The six factors studied by Masoud Asl should be given due importance.
