Two months ago, Marla requested a week of vacation in early June to participate in her childrens end-of-year school activities. However, yesterday she found out her husbands family reunion would be held over the July 4 holiday. She decides to email her supervisor, Paul, to see if she can request a change in her vacation schedule. Unfortunately, Paul is not able to grant her request. Evaluate Pauls email message below. Is it clear and easy to understand? Is it honest? Does it project a sense of goodwill with the audience? What changes would you recommend?

I received your recent request to change your vacation from the first week of June to the first week of July. Unfortunately, thats just not possible this year because of the end-of-year reports due by July 3. Also, as I am sure you are aware, company policy clearly states that vacations cannot be taken adjacent to scheduled holidays. Let me know if youd like to select a different vacation week or keep your current first week of June.
