Discussion 1: health assurance is the new approach

Making health is our primary goal, and we can see that in recent years, as consumers become more aware of their health and more involved in it. We see this in the new iPhone movement within healthcare. Covid-19 brought forth this movement- as it brought forth health assurance. Health assurance is a consumer-first approach. It works with consumers in creating habits [like checking and inputting glucose levels into an app] and analyzes the data to provide tips [such as nudging the consumer to drink juice or sit down]. This approach allows a person to go about their daily lives without a condition taking front and center stage. Health assurance focuses on bending the cost curve as well- because it actually focuses on the persons health. This approach also brings responsibility to the consumer.

Public health is a real gap in the pursuit of health. We are in a me medicine approach, and we need to become a we medicine. The funding has been declining over the span of 20 years- and the effects were highlighted during the pandemic. Public health needs to be fixed- it is the base of all other things. The change we need in this sector is changing our approach- health assurance is the new and better approach. Electronic Health Records do not need to be limited to hospitals and other care systems. The future is all consumers having access to their records on their phones, using data for preventative care with other apps.
