Click on the drop-down menu of datasets in the upper left corner and select the 'ICU Admissions (Blood Pressure by Status)' dataset. The data sampled admissions to the ICU of

a hospital and recorded their blood pressure and whether they subsequently lived or died.

Examine the data and answer the following questions:

a. What is the inter-quartile range (IQR) for the 'died' category? 'lived' Category? Both

categories together?

b. Which of the two categories appears to have a greater spread/variability?

c. High blood pressure, or hypertension, is often regarded as a major health problem worldwide and a precursor for heart disease. Is there any relationship between blood pressure

and whether a patient lives or dies? Does this dataset appear to support that high blood

pressure is a problem? Why or why not?

3. From the StatKey front page, click on the 'Two Quantitative Variables' section. Click on the

drop-down menu of datasets in the upper left corner and select the 'Light at Night' dataset.

The plot displays percentage of light received throughout the day vs. body mass gain. Does

there appear to be a relationship between the two variables? If so, what is the direction of

the relationship? Describe the relationship in the context of the problem.
