please write out your answer
Imagine it's coming up on lunch time; it's the weekend and you're in a town you don't know a lot about. Where will you eat lunch? At this point the answer isn't what I'm looking for; I'm more interested in how you made the decision to eat at one location over another. What helped you answer the question or decide on a location? Here are the decision points that I would use to help me decide where to eat: Location - which restaurant is easier to get to from my current location Interest in the type of food - which restaurant has the type of food I'm currently interested in (Japanese, Taco Bell, etc.) Cost - which restaurant is cheaper Time - how long will it take to get my food (as compared to how hungry I am) I'll just stop there - you may have come up with other decision points that you would ask yourself. Now I don't generally verbalize all of this information or even think about it consciously - but it's there in the back of my head. "Ohhh - Taco Bell - I like Taco Bell; but, hmmm - it's too far away. What's closer? Ahh - Quiznos; but they are a bit too expensive - so I'll just eat at McDonalds." Here's a kicker. The list of your decision points is just the beginning. Which of those questions are more important than the others? If my food interest was more important than cost or location; then I'd eat at Taco Bell regardless of how far away it was. Also notice that the decision points are discussed in the analytical report in the reverse order of importance. You want to talk about the most important decision point LAST because it will be the one remembered over all the others (humans have short term memories and we tend to forget the stuff we just read - so make the most important item easier to remember by talking about it last).
