PROMPT: You have been working for MDR Enterprises for 3 years. They have treated you well, or so is your perception. You have received above average reviews three years straight. You also get along well with your boss, so is your perception. Recently, they hired someone to help you do your job - you are a customer service representative. This was largely due to the amount of overtime you were working due to the company's growth. The overtime was adding up and the CFO was concerned. You were fine with the overtime and liked the extra money. Matter of fact, you adjusted your lifestyle accordingly. Now, with the new hire, your overtime went away. Ouch. That's not all, you found out that the new hire was earning the same as you and you are training them! You are upset and have decided you need to be paid more - a sense of fairness ***and*** financial need. Write an email to your boss asking for a raise (you decide how this plays out in terms of approach). You have thought this through, and have elected not to complain per se, but to use a persuasive approach to seek an increase in wage. As a "persuasive" email, you need to keep it pretty short-certainly less than a page. Create any details needed for this email. You want to also take this opportunity to relay anything else that you deem appropriate, i.e., make your case. You are trying to persuade your boss to do something, so get out in front of them on that by thinking this through and incorporate some verbiage that moves them in a desired direction, AKA be compelling. Remember, ask yourself, "what does success look like?" When your boss is done reading your email, what will they feel? What will they know? What will they be thinking about you? Stated another way, what are you trying to accomplish other than just telling them you want more money? Make sense? Develop a list of markers/ desired results before your write the email make sure you address them completely
