Portfolio Project Overview

For each course of the BFN Program, you will complete two tasks related to creating an online vegetarian catering business, which will constitute as part of your business plan. The purpose of the portfolio projects is to consider various aspects of small business activities, thereby demonstrating the application of knowledge, skills, and abilities acquired in each of your courses throughout the program.

Your portfolio project will consist of 2 parts and it will end in a presentation to the class showing the progress made during your business development and planning. Remember both parts of the portfolio project are related, with each part building on the next part.

• Write a blog about how Corporate Social Responsibility is implemented in your business

Portfolio Project Part 1

The priorities of modern business include not only such traditional goals as making a profit and enriching shareholders. The set of standards for how your business is conducted is set by business ethics. They also define the value system for how to operate in the marketplace and within your business, including product and brand, decision making, professional ethics, workplace issues, etc. Moreover, in the highly connected world any misconduct or unethical behavior may be immediately known by a companys stakeholders, which may influence its success. This part of the portfolio project will contribute to creating your business by developing an ethical business policy and implementing it into the activities of your company.

Nowadays, many companies implement codes of conduct. Even if a business is small, it is important to ensure that a companys decision-making and the behavior of its employees complies with common values, principles and the law.

A code of conduct is a set of rules around behavior for the employees to follow within an organization. It outlines the ethical principles and acts as a standard that staff need to meet so that they can know what is expected from them in order to make the business efficient. The code of conduct serves not only as an internal guideline for employees, but also as an external statement of corporate values and commitments.

For Portfolio Project Part 1, you will have to develop the code of conduct for the employees in your online vegetarian business. Make sure that the document includes at least 4 paragraphs (5-7 sentences) with the following sections:

1. Mission statement and values
2. Workplace policies and procedures - Include at least 5 rules and practices that you consider the most important for business.
3. Industry compliance and regulations
4. Disciplinary actions
