Data Modeling Assignment

Based on the following business scenario and requirement description, develop a conceptual

data model using Crow's Foot notation.

Business Background Description:

Amli Residential is a luxury apartment management company. The company has apartment

complexes in many cities. As their business grows, the company would like to create a database

to help manage their business data. The business data requirement description that Achli

Residential wants to keep in their database is provided below.

Business Data Requirement Description:

Apartment complex data

Each complex has a unique id to identify itself. Apartment complexes also have a

name $($example$,$ Ampl Buckhead$),$ an address and number of units. Each

apartment complex has multiple amenities $($such as swimming pool, gym, yoga

room, etc.$).$

The amenity data

Each amenity has its own id to identify itself. It also has a description. Amenities

are associated with the apartment complex.

Staff member data

Each apartment complex is managed by one or more staff members. Staff

members have a unique employee id$,$ name, phone number, email address and

title. Each staff member can only work with one apartment complex.

Renter data

Each rent has a unique renter id$,$ name, contact phone, contact email

Renting records data

Each apartment complex has many renters and each renter could rent multiple

apartments with Amli. In this case the lease start date and end date need to be

recorded.

Tasks:

Use one of three course appointed modeling software $($Lucidchart$.$com$-$cloud based

modeling software$)$ to create a conceptual data model using Crow's Foot notation

a$.$ The conceptual models should show all the entities, attributes for each entity

and the identifier$($s$)$ for each entity.

b$.$ Add relationships among entities based on the above business data requirement

description. Remember that data models should be based on requirements

gathered from the user. If you need more information, ask your client $($your

instructor$).$

Then, prepare a Word document to briefly describe your data model. Explain the

decisions made regarding cardinalities, type of entities and relationships.

Submit the Word file to the D$2$L assignment.
