Task 3: You are planning the roster for the Easter Holiday with your team. Your task is to:

  1. Read and assess the individuals in the scenario provided.
  2. Assist your team to develop a roster to cover the Easter Holiday (9:00 am to 5:00 pm Friday to Monday.)
  3. Decide on the catering menu for the staff lunch on the Thursday before Easter.
  4. Present it to your trainer and the team, which includes the individuals mentioned in the scenario.

(Previously it has been a sausage sizzle, but that is not appropriate this year.) Enter the decisions in the tables provided.

Ivan Petrovski Ivan is from Russia and came to Australia three years ago. He is 40 and has two teenage children. He can read and write English, but has trouble understanding people who speak quickly. Ivan is formal, punctual and hates uncertainty. He believes there is one right way to perform each task. He respects authority and believes that it is the Bosss job to tell everyone what to do. He is competitive and possessive dont borrow his pen without asking. Dont stand too close, either: it makes him uncomfortable. Ivan is a vegetarian, though he will eat eggs and milk.

Mary Jones Mary is a 70-year old Australian with a hearing-impairment. She is a devout Christian who expects to attend services on Easter Sunday and the Friday before Easter. She is informal, egalitarian and comfortable devising solutions to problems. She has no problem making suggestions to the boss, and she expects to be recognised for her achievements. She always speaks up in meetings. She is punctual and doesnt gossip. If you share private information, it stays private. Mary is happy to lend you office supplies, but you must ask first and return them when you have finished. Like Ivan, she gets uncomfortable if you stand too close.

Nour Al Nasri Nour is a 35-year-old Muslim Arab who has been in Australia for 25 years. She has two children at primary school and two at secondary school. She is not competitive and likes working as part of a team. She works hard to help all the team meet their objectives. However, she never speaks up in a meeting unless someone asks for her opinion. Like Ivan, Nour dislikes uncertainty, believes there is one right way to do things, and the Boss to tell her what to do. Unlike Ivan, she is likely to turn up five or ten minutes late for meetings. Nour is happy for people to borrow her things without asking and expects to do the same in return. As a Muslim, she only eats Halal food. Unlike Ivan and Mary, Nour doesnt mind people standing close.

Rajeesh Kahn Rajeesh is a 25-year old Indian who has been in Australia two years. He has two small children and his wife also works. Although he speaks with an accent, English is his first language. Like Mary, Rajeesh is informal, comfortable devising solutions to problems and happy to make suggestions to the Boss. Also like Mary, he always turns up to meetings on time and shares his opinions. Like Nour, he is happy for people to borrow his things without asking and expects to do the same in return. Also, like Nour, he is comfortable with people standing close, but he doesnt like to be touched. For religious reasons, Rajeesh refuses to eat beef.
