Question: Problem 2 . ( 1 2 marks ) Find the maximum production for a fleet of trucks and one backhoe as described under the following

Problem 2.(12 marks) Find the maximum production for a fleet of trucks and one backhoe as
described under the following conditions. Assume a soil density of 100.0 pcf (bank) and a swell
percent of 25%. Bucket Fill Factor =100%. Please use the tables provided of FOL and provide
sample calculations.
Complete the production calculations in the same manner as shown in class and in the Hauler
Production notes and assume the following:
12 hour days. Efficiency: 50 minutes per hour.
Backhoe has a bucket size of 2.75 cubic yards. Its bucket load cycle is 22 seconds. Bucket Fill
Factor of 100%.
22 ton rear dump trucks. Heaped capacity of 18.3cy. This is the same truck as in your notes, so
the performance curves will apply.
Haul Route and Haul Conditions:
Section 1: 2.0 miles, good earth haul road 1% grade uphill. (55lb? ton RR)
-Section 2: 1.25 miles Earth, Poorly Maintained Haul Road. 1% Grade uphill (140lb/ton).
Due to the strain on the trucks using the earth haul roads, the maximum speed allowed
would be 25 MPH when loaded and 35 MPH when empty, if achievable.
The turn and dump time is 1.0 minutes, as the site is not very congested.
