Question: Problem 2 - 1 . In a Rankine cycle with one stage of reheat, steam enters the turbine at 1 3 0 l b f

Problem 2-1. In a Rankine cycle with one stage of reheat, steam enters the turbine at 130lbfin2
and 950F and condenses at 100F. The cycle produces 1.7(10)9Btuhr and has one stage of
reheat, optimally placed, back to 950F. One feedwater of the closed type with drains cascaded
back to the condenser receives bled steam at the reheat pressure. The high- and low- pressure
turbine sections have isentropic efficiencies of 92% and 90%, respectively while the pump has
an isentropic efficiency of 75%. Determine: (a) the appropriate reheat pressure, (b) the mass
flow rate of steam into the turbine kilograms per second, and (b) the cycle thermal efficiency.
Use TTD =-2.9F.
