Bill of Materials

A bill of materials lists all of the parts used in the product along with their identifying numbers and the number of pieces of each item required for the product. The bill of materials for the paper punch is shown in Figure $5-11.$ This figure contains the basic information expected from a bill of materials. Other information such as the drawing number for each part, part cost, etc., can be added if desired. For instance in Figure $5-11$ the parts to be purchased are identified. Standard forms for a bill of materials can be found in industrial engineering handbooks.
