For this problem you will analyze the energy use and air quality impacts of the Sperryville bypass from Problem 2-3.
The traffic data analyzed in Problem 2-3 are applicable for this exercise. As part of the environmental analysis of this
project, you have been asked to calculate several MOEs to support a comparison of the three scenarios (Existing, No
Build, and Build). In addition to the information presented in Problem 2-3, the output from an EPA MOVES run for
Greene County for years 2024 and 2030 has been prepared in Microsoft Excel format (posted to Blackboard). Use the
"Decode" tab of the output to find the Source ID for each of the six vehicle types analyzed. Using this information,
calculate the following MOEs for the three scenarios:
[a] Calculate the total daily fuel consumption (in gallons) for each scenario. Recall that BTU conversions to gallons
of liquid fuel were discussed during the energy use class lecture. Note that you have two options for this part.
[b] Calculate the total daily emissions (U.S. tons) of Atmospheric CO2, Carbon Monoxide (CO), and Oxides of
Nitrogen (NOx) for each scenario.
