Problem #3:
A prismatic three span continuous bridge (supports A, B, C, D) has two outer spans of 30 meters and an inner span BC of 36 meters. Use a conventional structural analysis software of your choice to construct the following (Important Note: traverse a unit load at intervals equal to 10% for each span to generate the data required. Do not make software generate the full influence line automatically-provide software output electronically):
a) The influence lines for the exterior left reaction RA
b) The influence line for the negative moment at the interior support B(MB-)
c) The influence line for the positive moment (MAB+)at a distance equal to 40% of the left span, to the right of the left support
d) Draw the above influence lines using the software Excel along with the ones from the tables provided in the class. Also, show both results in tabulated form (preferably on Excel). Readers need to be able to compare your results with those of the book tables.
e) Find the maximum effects on RA,MB-and MAB+due to an HL93 truck traversing the bridge (using the results you generated).
f) Find the maximum RA if a uniformly distributed load of 9.3kNm is applied on the bridge (partial loading is possible if it leads to maximum effects)(use the textbook table for this problem).
