Question: PROBLEM 3 The superelevation profile is shown below for a spiral curve of length 6 0 0 ft and total pavement width of 2 4

PROBLEM 3
The superelevation profile is shown below for a spiral curve of length 600 ft and
total pavement width of 24 ft . Normal crown slope is 0.015. Use edesinn =0.1. Find
the value of r? The station of the T.S. is 177+00.00. Assuming that the first cross
section is "Normal Crown" section, that the "Adverse Crown Removed" section is
achieved at the T.S. station, and that the full superelevation (or easese =0.1) is
achieved at the end of the spiral station S.C. compute necessary distances and
label the following diagram clearly, you need to show:
cross sections at locations 1,2.3, and 4. Sketch these as in the class notes and
examples, and make sure to mark all cross section slopes with their
correspondent numerical values. Do this for each cross section:
the location and station of the T.S. and the location and station of the S.C.
accurately on the diagram. Also, show length of spiral on this diagram; and
all distances marked with (?) question mark. Show their numerical values on
the diagram and explain how you got these numbers under the diagram.
Show your calculations below the diagram.
Please note that each item underlined above has its own grade.
Hint: This is a spiral not simple horizontal (or circular) curve.
So, do not use the one third two third rule that is used in simple
circular curves.
