Question: Problem: A proposed elevated concrete water tank is shown on the plan below. The tank serves as a water supply for a local subdivision

\Problem:
A proposed elevated concrete water tank is shown on the plan below. The tank serves as a water
supply for a local subdivision and distributes it via gravity due to its elevation. The properties of the tank are as follows:
ALL. GIRDERS/BEANS -300x800m
AL.
SI.AD -200MM THICK
Properties of the tank:
The walls are made of 250mm thik concrete that is 5.6 meters high which is carried by the girders and
beams. The maximum height of the waler on each chamber is limited by placing a pipe 0.6m below the
lop that would aulomatically ist the water overflow to the next chamber. When all chambers are filled.
the waler overflows to the last outlet pipe that will then serve the subdivision. Ignore the weight of the
slab cover on top.
Parameters:
fc=4000(28Mpa)
fy=60,000(414Mpa)
E( steel )=29,000ksi(200,000Mpa)
Density of water (specific weight)-9.81kNm3
Density of concrele -24kNcubic meter
QUESTIONS
Determine uniformly distributed load to be carried by the girdars along Gridline B tue to DEAD
LOAD.
Determine the uniformly distributad load to be carriad by the girders along Gridline B dua to LIVE
LOAD.
If the beam along gridline B is considered a beam with spandrel support at its ends, 5
determine the negative Moment at Gridline B due to Dead Load
Using the same scenario for Question 3, determine the negative Moment due to Live Load
