Problem No.2||| Practicing the effect of using different computational models
For Q=800gpm and T1=70F and T2=150F; Please, do the following:
Read the required NPSH at the specified flowrate, from the performance curve (see the figure in CN2 Pumps Ideal ..., Slide No.13).
Get three different models of calculating the vapor pressure (Pv)(M1, M2, and M3).
State the mathematical expression of each model.
Calculate Pv using the three models and for T1=70F only.
Using the results of calculating Pv at T1, determine the available NPSH for the following considerations:
a. Only major losses
b. Both minor and major (i.e., total losses)
Complete Table 1.
According to your yet obtained results, select the safest model (you should justify your selection (say why?)), to calculate Pv at T2.
Calculate the available NPSH using Pv at T2.
Complete Table 2.
Notes:
Show, fully, your work of calculating Pv using all three models (names of the input parameters and their units must be stated)
Please, use the following abbreviations to complete the tables below:
Only major losses (MJL) Total losses (TL)(major and minor)
Results: Safe operation (SO) or not safe operation (NSP)
