Problem Solving and Decision Making
Purpose: The purpose of this reflection is to help students build critical and creative thinking skills. The goal is to challenge the student to stretch in their thinking skills and experience something new or different.
Instructions:
Students are to decide, first, if the student feels stronger in their critical thinking skills versus their creative thinking skills. Once decided, the student should plan to engage in an activity that will help to strengthen the other thinking skills. For example, students who are stronger in critical thinking may want to attend a painting or drawing course, or an activity that will give the student more experiences in creativity. Students who are stronger in creative thinking may choose to put together a Lego set of 3000 pieces, learn to play Chess, or attend a seminar on a difficult subject that involves thinking and analysis.
Tell me which skill you are working on, Critical Thinking or Creative Thinking.
Write a two-page reflection describing the experience. Discuss how this activity challenged the student in their critical or creative skills. Be sure to elaborate and explain details.
