Problem Statement :

Develop a user interface for Membership Management.

With the advancement in IoT, almost all devices can be accessed and controlled digitally. A system that manages devices from various manufacturers can be extremely useful and a novel product in the market. Your company has planned to release Smart Home to provide this functionality. It is assumed that all electronic devices can communicate through the home WiFi. Each device will have a unique MAC address that can be used to identify it. The solution is required to:

Allow users to add smart devices in their home/office.

Give an appropriate name to the device during the process of adding it. Each device that is added should also have fields that list its manufacturer, model number, warranty status, date of addition to the system, and location where it is installed (office/kitchen/hall etc.).

Allow users to insert these details if it is not able to populate these details automatically.

Details including the name should be changeable at any later time.

The system should allow the users to manage the energy consumption, where applicable. For instance, light bulbs, dish washers, refrigerators might be good candidates.

Users should also be able to turn off/on any device connected to the system.

The system should also inform the user if the remaining warranty of any device is less than a month.

The user will have the option to snooze this notification to any period of time in multiples of 24 hours.

The users would like to see reports related to devices enrolled to Smart Home, energy consumption per device, categorized by different reporting periods (per day, per week, per month, custom dates etc.), sorted by maximum, minimum, and/or location. Keep in mind that the new trend in interaction with systems is to use mobile devices instead of desktops. However, there might be some aspects that will require desktops for optimal and proper execution. The company has entrusted you to suggest the best UI for this system.

Do the Collection and documentation of usability requirements and please write a usability requirements document with the following:

(a) Perform user analysis by identifying the characteristics of the users (such as age, educational background etc.) (Use Appendix B template)

(b) Identify user-groups and/or personas.

(c) Perform task analysis by determining the tasks and identify the characteristics of the tasks (such as frequency, required knowledge/skill, etc.) (Use Appendix C template as supporting document)

(d) Document task analysis by using use case, experience maps, activity diagrams. Use case descriptions are optional.

(e) Create scenarios, storyboards as needed.
