Problem Statement: You are a Manufacturing Engineer employed at a prefabricated home building plant. You have to program a pneumatic nail hammering device to pound a nail into a roof joist. The joists are made of either of two species of lumber: oak or pine, oak being the denser of the two. If the joist is made of pine, then the operator signals this with a PINE momentary pushbutton and the hammer is actuated three times. The hammer is controlled by a singleacting, spring return solenoid valve. Each down stroke takes one second. The up stroke is accomplished by simply deenergizing the solenoid for two seconds. The next down stroke then happens for one second and so on If the joist is oak then the operator signals with the OAK momentary pushbutton and the hammer is actuated five times. The same hammeringsolenoid control timing scheme is used. Of course, nothing works unless the machine is in RUN mode. A "RUNNING" indicator lamp is attached to output It also goes out when ESTOP is hit.O LIST is as follows: INPUTS: OUTPUTS: :: RUN switch. NOMomentary:: Hammer Solenoid I: : PINE switch. NOMomentary:: RUN Indicator Light :: OAK switch. NOMomentary: : ESTOP NCMaintained
