One gas is released to the atmosphere from a broken 25mm nozzle

Task 5: Source model calculation One gas is released to the atmosphere from a broken 25mm nozzle connected to a storage tank. Storage temperature is 65C at a 500kPa vapour pressure (absolute pressure). The specific volume of gas is 0.125m3/kg. The heat capacity of the gas is Cp2.96kJ/kg.K and Cv 1.81kJ/kgK. Assuming the release is through a sharp hole (discharge coefficient Cd=0.61 ), please determine the mass flow rate (kg/s) from the nozzle (Solution: 0.425kg/s ). (2) Assuming the failure frequency of cold water supply is 0.1 per year, there are only three IPLs in the water storage tank, i.e., human response (10min action), BPCS and relief valve, the failure probability is available in the table below. Please determine the failure frequency of hot water supply from the tank. Table: Typical probabilities of failure on demand for Passive IPLs.
