Process Tech training #105
Graphing Extruder Temperature
Its time for the graph paper again!
In the last exercise we graphed the average temperature for each month in two years. Now lets do one that relates to the machines we run every day.
For this exercise we are going to collect temperature data for one of the temperature zones on an extruder.
Activity #1: Pick one of the main extruders on line 5, 6, or 7. On that extruder, collect the setpoint temperature and the actual temperature of barrel zone 3. Do this every minute for 20 consecutive minutes. You are recording the time, current temperature of extruder barrel zone 3, and the setpoint temperature for extruder barrel zone 3. Make a table with these data.
Activity #2: Graph the data from Activity #1. The time should be on the horizontal axis (1 minute, 2 minutes, 3 minutes, ) and the temperature on the vertical axis. Plot both the set point and the actual temperatures on the same graph.
Activity #3: This time for one of the capping extruder, do the same thing you did in activity #1. Each minute, for 20 minutes, collect the setpoint and the actual temperature. Make a table.
Activity #4: Like you did for activity #2, plot the data you collected from activity #3.
