Formative Assessment #4 Topic Proposal and Approval: This project has topic options for a preferably Canadian-based national or multinational company to audit/investigate/analyze. Consider the project purpose, research purpose, interests, audience, and possible issues before you commit to a company and business segments. A list of suggested companies can be offered. To ensure that you can proceed, select a company, one segment per team member, and ask for approval in session or by email.
3.Work Plan (1 0%)Once your company and Develop a work plan that proposes how your group will account for project tasks, assignment deadlines, and collaboration. Formatted as a memo report, the work plan introduces the project topic followed by required sections header with related content: Topic Outline, Schedule, Collaboration, Risk Management, and Team Commitments. Follow the guidelines in the work plan checklist and post a DOC copy by the due date. All research material include in the work plan must include in-text citations.
4.Research - OngoingTeams conduct secondary research to gather credible data and graphics for ethical reporting in each project assessment. As you conduct research, ensure that you use the CRAAP Test to evaluate potential sources. Remember to cite only the sources used and cite them as instructed for each assignment. Data: Gather credible facts and opinions that support your message. You may choose to paraphrase and summarize useful information as you record notes for the research material. This may be a timesaver, as you will not use copied textual research material in any submissions. The infographic specifies a maximum of three credible information sources of your choice. The slide report specifies a minimum of four credible sources: Include two database sources: Select magazine, newspaper or journal articles. Include one website: Search online for current and credible information. Wikipedia is not an acceptable source, but you can use it to find a source.Include one primary source: Conduct an interview with a subject matter expert (SME), an experiment, or an inspection.Graphics: Create and collect relevant graphics that complement the text and support understanding. Organize graphics with clear descriptions for easy recall. To ensure that there are no copyright violations, choose creative commons licensed graphics, cite graphics that you did not create or recreated, and cite the content source for those you created.The work plan must include at least one properly formatted table that you refer to in the text. The infographic and slide report must each include at least one original graphic to report data collected from your research and can use unlimited CC licensed graphic elements. Cited company logos and infographic tool graphics may also be used.
5.Slide Report (15%)Write a slide report that matches your topic purpose. Focus on quality, not quantity. Start with your outline and use the slide report resources provided to plan, organize and write the slide report. Follow the guidelines in the slide report checklist to ensure that you meet required criteria for the report. It may be easier to complete some sections before others. Post a PPT copy by the due date.
6.Oral Presentation (10%)As a team, students introduce their topic and present the conclusions and recommendations of their research and analysis to the class. Presenters create their own slides with relevant content, audio narration, and a written transcript. Each presenter talks for 1-1.5 minutes. Graphics may be sourced(and cited) but audio or video from other sources may not be used.
