Project Description:
In this project, you will design a two-stage digital system to monitor and regulate the temperature in two
zones of a greenhouse (Zone A and Zone B). The system will use comparators in Stage 1 to compare
temperature readings from the two zones, and state analysis in Stage 2 to implement a control
mechanism for cooling or heating based on the results.
Stage 1: You will design a circuit that takes two 4-bit binary inputs, representing the temperature
readings from Zone A and Zone B (ranging from 0 to 15). A comparator will be used to
determine:
If Zone A is hotter than Zone B(A > B).
If Zone B is hotter than Zone A(A B).
If both zones have the same temperature (A=B). The outputs of this stage will be two
binary signals, XX and YY , which represent the comparison results and will serve as
inputs to Stage k.
Stage 2: You will design a state machine with four states:
State 0: Cooling Zone A.
State 1: Cooling Zone B.
State 2: Idle (temperatures are equal).
State 3: Heating both zones (if external conditions require it). The state machine will
transition between states based on the comparator outputs ( XX and YY ) and specific
conditions. Outputs from this stage will control the cooling or heating mechanisms for
the greenhouse.
