Project III: Cover/Application Letter and Resume

Task: Create a cover/application letter and resume applying for a job of your choice.

Application Letter

• The Application Letter is a persuasive letter follow the AIDA approach from Chapter 11 and refer to Chapter 16 for the application letter.
• This letter should be one page in length using typical format of a professional letter as you did with Project #1 from Chapter 7 and Appendix A
• Review the purpose of the application letter
  • o Highlight a few points from the job description and describe how your experience or your traits can help meet those requirements
  • o Refer to chapter 6 and your 1^st project regarding sections of a business letter
  • o Make sure in addition to following the AIDA model your create a business letter

Resume

• Create a truthful resume, do not create fictitious educational or professional experience
• o I will deduct points, if I detect false or imaginary experience
• Remember to use the action verbs from Chapter 15 as well as the proper tense for these action verbs
• Make sure you apply your education and experience to the requirements included in the job descriptions
• The average length of the resume should be one page, I will allow up to two pages but no more than that
• Remember to use white space and margins appropriately refer to Chapter 15
• Refer to Chapter 15 for sections and parts of a resume

Job Opportunities

• Youll be applying for a single position.
• You must find a job/position to apply for. You can use the newspaper and/or internet. Refer to Chapter 15 about finding job opportunities.
• You must include a copy of the job description or url link to the job description as part of your project submission.
