PROJECT INITIATION DOCUMENT Maximus Project Business Need(s): Maximus is a company that currently has 5 call centers sites that uses the NY State of Health website Marketplace to enroll and sign NY resident in Health care. They each have a satellite HR team to process the transactions for their respective employees manually. The current system is very cumbersome and has too many steps in keeping and updating employee information due to high retention amongst the temporary employees. Project Feasibility: Current mainframe is old and costs too much to maintain. The company mainframes costs $1.000,000 per year to maintain and cannot produce reports in a timely manner. As a result of this overhead cost, Maximus is loosing its competitive's edge on the market. Project Benefits: Consolidation of all 5 human resources departments to a single company wide HR department. As a result of this downsizing, the company would cut costs associated with maintaining multiple HR departments across the various the locations. Ultimately, this move will help this organization to save money and remain competitive. Project Costs: The cost of the project is estimated at $2.5 millions between all the resources involved in the completion of this project. Recommendation: I recommend the redesigning and implementation of an integrated system company wide. A self-service system that the employee can update on their own. Also combine employee information into one system that can be maintained on one mainframe. The System would allow end-users to perform most of tasks related to human resource such as: Time Management, Scheduling, Benefits and Retirement functions.
