The result of this fiveyear project was the IBM also known as Stretch. It was the companys first transistorized supercomputer.
Though Stretch could handle a halfmillion instructions per second and was the fastest computer in the world up to the project was deemed a failure. Why? The projects goal was to create a computer times faster than what it was built to replace. Stretch was only about times faster.
