Project | Measurement & Conversion (Part II) This chapter introduced another problem solving method with the acronym U.S.E. This stands for Understand, Solve, Explain. While this is similar to Polya's problem solving method, it incorporates the step of explaining your solution. We will practice U.S.E in Part II of the Measurement & Conversion project. THE PROBLEM: You Gotta Move it, Move it. Part I: Recall, in the Activity "Which country would you move to?" (Part | of this project), you researched the climate, cost of living, and some other determining factors for 2 countries you might move to. You made a choice to move to a certain country based on your preferences. For "Part II: How much can you get?" the prompt continues below: Part II: How much can you get? PRETEND: The land your residence sits on has been seized by the government and, in rebellion, you are leaving the country! You will be moving to a country that uses the metric system. degrees Celcius, and a different currency. You have done your research and chosen a country that you think suits your needs and lifestyle. REALITY: Your employer has agreed to provide your REAL current monthly wages for the next six months to give you time to get settled into a new home in your chosen country while you look for a new job. You need to find a REAL place to live that you can afford and will accommodate you and any family members that depend on you. Make sure to consider and do the appropriate conversions, with work, for your current monthly income, and the size and cost of your residence. Provide answers to the questions and follow the directions within each step. 1. Understand: What two metrics are you working with in this problem? What are your needs and limitations? What personal information do you need to gather? What research about your chosen country needs to be done? What formulas or conversion rates might you need? What conversions or calculations will you do? 2. Solve: Organize and show all the information you've gathered. Document links or screenshots of evidence pertaining to your research. Set up your conversions and show all necessary work with units. Check your steps as you go. 3. Explain: Using a combination of information from steps 1 and 2, explain your conclusion based on how and why it meets your needs
