BACKGROUND AND CURRENT PRACTICE

The hospitality sector is struggling due to a shortage of staff. This sector has hit a record high in the past two years[1]. The recent pandemic has hugely affected businesses like restaurants, cafes, and hotels.It has been forecasted that this crisis will not be ending any sooner[2].

PROJECT AIMS/OBJECTIVES

The aim of the Robot Waiter project is to design and built a robotic server that will assist and serve customers in the hospitality sector. The robot will have the task of taking orders and serving the customers.

  • Specific: Design and build a robotic server that will take orders and serve customers.
  • Measurable: A Work Breakdown Structure system will be implemented. The progress will be measured at each phase after the completion of each iteration.
  • Attainable: With the availability of modern technology the project is attainable.
  • Relevant: After discussing with the team, the project has been found to meet the goals for which it will be initiated.
  • Time-bound: The project's total duration is set to be accomplished within a year.
