Project Description:

In this course project, students will investigate the concepts, challenges, and applications of

edge and fog computing. The project aims to deepen students' understanding of these

emerging paradigms and their significance in modern computing environments. Students will

conduct a comprehensive literature review, analyze real$-$world case studies, and propose

innovative solutions to address key challenges in edge and fog computing.

Project Tasks:

Literature Review:

Conduct a literature review to explore the foundational concepts, principles, and

architectures of edge and fog computing.

Identify key research papers, articles, and academic publications that contribute to the

understanding of edge and fog computing paradigms.

Architectures and Technologies:

Analyze different architectures and technologies used in edge and fog computing,

including edge nodes, fog nodes, communication protocols, and middleware platforms.

Investigate the roles and responsibilities of edge and fog computing components in

distributed computing environments.

Challenges and Solutions:

Identify and analyze the challenges and limitations associated with edge and fog

computing, such as resource constraints, security concerns, and scalability issues.

Explore existing solutions and mitigation strategies proposed to address these challenges,

including optimization techniques, security mechanisms, and fault tolerance mechanisms.

Case Studies and Applications:

Investigate real$-$world case studies and applications of edge and fog computing across

various domains, such as loT, smart cities, healthcare, and industrial automation.

Analyze the use cases, benefits, and challenges encountered in these deployments,
