POST 1 : Hello everyone,

I was surprised to learn how much social factorslike where people live, their income, and access to foodreally impact their health. I always thought of health care as mostly doctors, hospitals, and medicine, but this course helped me see the bigger picture. The section on social determinants of health really opened my eyes. It made me realize that managing population health isn't just about treating people when they're sick, it's about preventing problems before they start.

I can use this information on the job by thinking beyond just clinical care. I work in a setting where we deal with a lot of patients who face challenges outside of the hospital, and now I'm more aware of how those things affect their health. I plan to speak with my team about including simple screenings for things like food insecurity or housing issues. That way, we can connect patients with the help they need sooner rather than later.

This course has really changed how I think about health care. It's not just about treating illnessit's about helping people live healthier lives overall.

I now better understand how population health uses data not just to treat illness, but to identify trends, predict risks, and actually prevent issues before they escalate. That shiftfrom reactive to proactive carestuck with me.
