(Scenario) That spreadsheet is my nightmare. I currently work as an MDM analyst and we have to fix "dirty data". The format of the data has to be the same for filtering, vlookups, and things like that. If we must search customer based on business needs, there needs to be a column for marketing with maybe a Duns & Bradstreet line of business code. The name has a title sometimes and other times it does not, which continues the bad data. Member dates have a different format each time and the same with the phone number. The states are sometimes spelled out and sometimes abbreviated. Gender is listed twice on the spreadsheet, which is obviously not needed. First and foremost, I would ask IT to cleanup that data and standardize it. Cleaning up the data first will allow for doing more things with it in the future.
