Providing clear, concise instructions is generally the primary goal for anyone who is creating them. As a professor, I am no different. While I do my very best to reach those goals, I may fall short from time to time.

This is your opportunity to help me and future students by revising any assignment guidelines from any assignment this semester.

For this assignment, you will revise the instructions from a previous course assignment $($no quizzes$)$ to make those instructions clearer for future students. You will choose one of the assignments that you have completed in this course and identify three to five areas where the instructions could be improved. You will then rewrite the instructions using clear, concise, and specific language. You will also provide a rationale for each revision, explaining how it enhances the clarity and effectiveness of the instructions. The revised instructions should remain as close to the original assignment guidelines as possible. For example, a revision suggestion should not be to reduce the length of an assignment or add to the length of an assignment.

The purpose of this assignment is to help you develop your skills in technical writing and communication. By revising the instructions, you will practice applying the principles of clarity, conciseness, specificity, accuracy, and coherence to your writing. You will also demonstrate your ability to analyze and evaluate the quality of instructions and provide constructive feedback.

Your revised instructions with the rationale for each change should be in memo format and written in a professional tone. The length will vary depending on the original assignment guidelines.

You will be graded on the following criteria:

The quality of your revisions: how well you identify and improve the areas of weakness in the original instructions

The quality of your rationale: how well you explain and justify your revisions using relevant principles and evidence

The quality of your writing: how well you use clear, concise, and specific language, grammar, punctuation, and spelling
