Public Sector Supply Chain Management 2022 - Winter Assignment Research Report & Presentation Value of Assignment: 35% Introduction: This semester we will be working with an external agency, City of London to provide them with preliminary research on a specific potential software and equipment applications they are considering for the Procurement/Supply Management Department that relates to Bar Coding Inventory Management and Control using Bar Coding Includes a review of barcode scanning equipment compatible with the software being reviewed NOTE: There is to be absolutely no contact with anyone at the City of London, or any of the vendors being researched - this is a web based research assignment Questions/concerns are to be directed to the professor for review with the City of London. Instructions: A presentation by a representative of the City of London will be held on WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 26, 2022 at 9:00 am via Zoom - you will be provided a link - attendance is mandatory for all students. This project is broken into two components, Research Report (20%) and Presentation (15%) following information is required for the components. You are required to research a Barcoding Software and compatible equipment so you can create a report and presentation on the organization. NOTE: You will be required to work in groups, either of your own choosing or assigned by the professor Groups will have a maximum of 5 members and a minimum of three members Groups need to be finalized by the beginning of the class in Module 2 Page 1 of 5 Public Sector Supply Chain Management Groups will be required to investigate potential suppliers who deal in the North American Marketplace, concentrating on Canadian providers of this type of software solutions. Groups will also be looking at solutions that can integrate with the current Procurement/Inventory Management system in use at the City of London which is supplied by JD Edwards (JDE), Additional Information: This is a preliminary research project, therefore for this project, pricing is not a consideration in the review of vendors, you are to be reviewing and comparing the features of the various providers - do not contact vendors Your research should be utilizing a minimum of three (3) databases, some potential databases to consider are: Fanshawe College Library Databases Software Comparison organizations Research Report: (20%) There are two Progress/Milestone Reports required for this assignment, as well as a final report. They are due as follows: Progress Report 1 o Week of February 8th, 2022 (5%) Progress Report 2 o Week of February 28th, 2022 (5%) Final Report o Week of March 14th, 2022 (10%) . The report is to be written according to the APA Guidelines, which you learned in your communications course, with the exception that it is to be single spaced. Reports are to be professional in appearance - not academic reports The report is cumulative, that is it must include the information from the first two progress reports, details for each report are provided on page 3. Report Two: This report is a continuation of Report 1 (the report is cumulative), which means that this report contains all the information reported in Progress Report 1, but is in greater detail It should provide greater detail on how your methodology worked Should include a comparison of the providers - either in a chart format an easy to read format It provides more detail on your weighting/ranking system, that is it should show the description of the criteria It has details on the research conducted, that is it shows the companies, their capabilities and ability to be integrated into the existing City of London system Can include a preliminary Conclusion remember this is not a recommendation, it a conclusion (wrap-up) of your report . + Final Report: This is the accumulation of your research, it is a continuation of the first two reports It provided greater detail and analysis of the materials selected in the first and second report It provides your evaluation (weighting/ranking score) of the solutions reviewed and analyzed o Ensure you provide details on the ranking/weighting criteria It needs to include an Executive Summary - remember that an Executive Summary is a synopsis (summary) of your report . Page 3 of 5 Public Sector Supply Chain Management This report also contains your References/Bibliography Contains any additional information you feel is relevant to the decision making process. 0 0 As a recap, the reports needs to include your Methodology This is to be included in Progress Report 1 Includes how you are going to rank the vendors - what criteria Research Detail (which companies you reviewed o Including the Methodology, this is included in Progress Report 2 Final Comparison of the features of the Solutions your reviewed o Including the materials from Progress Report 1 and 2 o Includes a comparison chart of the potential vendors and the features of their solution o Includes a ranking and weighting of the vendors reviewed Information on report writing is available to you in the document v=found on the course website in the Case Analysis Tab, under Additional Case Analysis Writing Tools and titled "Writing Reports for Business Supply Chain and Operations Management Programs" The report needs to be as long as is required to present your findings, it is anticipated that is will be a minimum of 15 pages, which would include the Cover Page, Leader Page, Table of Contents, Executive Summary, Analysis (your research) Conclusion and Bibliography Reports are to be submitted through the identified submission folder on the FOL Course site Presentation: (15%) - 7.5 for the PowerPoint Slides and 7.5% for the ZOOM Presentation) DUE: Week of March 21st, 2022 The grading for this component is based on your slides (7.5%) and the presentation (7.5%) You are to present your findings in a short - 5-minute maximum - video presentation - via Zoom o You may be required to also do your presentation in the classroom Presentations need to done in a professional manner, so dress appropriately Your presentation includes your presentation notes - these are to be located in the notes section under each slide (Think of this as your speech) Presentations are to be a maximum of 8 slides including the title slide and closing slide . Page 4 of 5 Public Sector Supply Chain Management o This means you have 6 slides to "sell' your research Your presentation is synopsis of your research - do not read your report verbatim! And do not put your report on the slides - slides are for highlights and discussion points - your final report has already been submitted to your professor The presentation needs to have an introduction, and a conclusion and you need to present the important points you have discovered in your research. Remember the presentation is the highlights of your report, including the ranking of your vendors. Practice your presentation before actually filming it - watch your timing - be prepared Presentations need to be readable, what looks nice on your computer screen may not translate well in a presentation - be mindful of colour choices and type fonts Slides in business presentation are usually 6 line of six words per line so chose your wording carefully . Do not include a bibliography in your presentation, this is to be included in your report Presentations and Slides are to be uploaded to the identified submission folder on the FOL Course Site Page 5 of 5
