An entrepreneur has a company that makes Internet shows that are available to subscribers
through her website. She needs a database to track the shows that are produced and the
response of the viewers to each show. For each show, the name of the show, a short
description, the date it was first produced, and its status need to be kept in the system.
Every show is performed in by at least one actor, although most shows involve many different
actors. It is possible for one actor to play more than one role in a given show. For each actor,
the actor's real name, stage name, height, weight, and date of birth need to be stored. An actor
may be in the system without having appeared in a show yet, but most actors will have been in
many different shows. Every time an actor is in a show, it is necessary to record the name of
the character that the actor played in that show.
Some shows are spinoffs of other shows. That is if a particular character is very popular, the
company may make a new show that features that character. If a show is a spinoff of another
show, the system needs to know which show it spun off from. A show can yield many different
spinoffs, but a show can only spinoff from one show. For example, NCIS: Los Angeles is a
spinoff from NCIS.
Data is also kept on each registered viewer. For each viewer, the viewer's name, email address,
and region USSWUSSEUSEEU etc. are kept. A viewer can have multiple email
addresses tracked by the system for example, a viewer can have a school email address and a
mail address among others in the system Each viewer can rate each show by giving
stars to the show. Whenever a viewer rates a show, the number of stars given and the date of
the rating are stored. If a viewer rates a show more than once, only the latest rating is
recorded. Some viewers have never rated a show, and some new shows have never been rated
by a viewer. Normally, however, a viewer will rate lots of shows and a show will be rated by
many viewers.
