A generous monetary gift of R500 000 was given to the City library from the South African Advanced Education Foundation and the library board decided to use the donation on renovating the 1st floor of the City Library. The purpose of the project is to renovate the first floor of the City library to satisfy users' information retrieval habits in the modern age. Its overall aim is to enhance productivity and enrich the research process for students and faculty in the new information age.
