INTRODUCTION As the cost of living increases, growing pressure is placed on Australian, and by extension, international, commercial industries and home owners. To alleviate this, more and more are turning to renewable resource generation infrastructure to supplement, and in some cases, entirely replace their energy needs. One answer to this problem that has been drawing increasing attention all over the world is the Net Zero Energy Building. A net zero energy building is one where the infrastructure generates and consumes its own power needs through the use of onsite renewable resources allowing for no grid drawn power consumed. The net zero energy building exports all unused power back to the grid for credit. The Sustainable Building Research Centre at the University of Wollongong's Innovation Campus was designed and constructed with the primary goal of creating an entirely sustainable, purely green building running entirely off onsite renewable energy, thereby meeting the requirements for a net zero energy building. In order to obtain total sustainability, the SBRC utilises building control infrastructure to regulate environmental and utility needs. This thesis addresses the means in which high efficiency infrastructure achieve this goal. The results will hopefully verify, and enable, the University of Wollongong's Sustainable Building Research Centre to continue to actively contribute to the growing understanding and evolving definition of what constitutes as a Net Zero Energy Building, and how high efficiency infrastructure achieve the benefits accredited to them. The work completed within the duration of this study is: Assess and review past and current research undertakings encompassing NZEB infrastructure and high efficiency building evaluations. Assess and Verify SBRC energy and environmental meters, physical and virtual to ensure they are displaying correct measurements and feeding the correct data to the BMS for effective Data Collection. Assess the impact environmental patterns from weather, including but not limited to overall temperature, humidity and precipitation, has on energy use. Assess the relationship between energy use and weather
