Question 1 Derek died recently. In his validly executed will he left the following dispositions:

(a) I leave 1,000 shares in PCCW Ltd to Rodney desiring that he shall hold 100 of them on trust. My Uncle Albert may direct Rodney to use the income from the shares for any charitable purpose in Hong Kong. After 15 years the shares and any remaining income are to be given to the Mai Po Nature Lovers Group.

(b) I leave my two best cars from my collection to be held on trust by Marlene for my two friends Trigger and Boycie. Boycie shall select which cars are the best from my collection and Trigger may select which of the two he wishes. The remaining car is to be given to Boycie.

(c) I leave $30,000 for the building of my tomb. Any money left over from the building shall be used for the maintenance of my tomb as long as the law permits.

(d) I leave my residuary estate to my wife Raquel in full confidence that she shall use it for the establishment of a museum dedicated to the promotion of comedy films. In particular the museum shall feature my own films which have not received the critical acclaim which I believe they merit.

The museum shall be open free of charge to all members of my family and my friends but the public should pay a small charge which is to be used to finance the museum.

The Mai Po Nature Lovers Group is an unincorporated association. Boycie has died without selecting which two cars are the best in Derek's collection. Advise on the validity of the dispositions. Your answer should specify what happens to the subject matter if the disposition fails.
