Question 1: Inference from a sample

Read the following description of the results of a survey conducted by Parks Victoria. Identify the sample, population and target property and comment on whether the poll result supports the conclusion drawn.

According to a recent survey conducted by Parks Victoria, the majority of park users rank bushwalking as their favourite thing to do when visiting the Grampians National Park. Parks Victoria developed a survey to inform the new Grampian National Park Management Plan, due to come into effect later this year. They promoted the survey on Facebook, and in local newspapers in the Grampians region. The survey could be completed either online or at one of 6 community workshop sessions. One of the questions in the survey asked participants to list their three favourite activities when visiting the Grampians. Of the 446 participants 347 (78%) listed bushwalking as one of their three favourite activities. The second and third most selected were camping, and observing nature.
