Figure $1$ shows the layout of a $150$ mm thick suspended reinforced concrete floor slab that will form

part of a public library building. The slab will be cast monolithically with $550mm300mm$ beams

supporting it$.$ The slab supports a dead load of $1\mathrm{.}2k\frac{N}{m^2}$ for finishes.

All columns are $300mm300mm.$

The characteristic strength of the materials used are:

Characteristic strength of concrete, $f_{cu}=30$MPa

Yield strength of reinforcement steel, $f_y=450$MPa.

The nominal cover to reinforcement is $25$ mm $.$

$1\mathrm{.}1$ Using the relevant Codes of practice to design suitable reinforcement for the interior

negative $($hogging$)$ moment of Beam ABCD.

$1\mathrm{.}2$ Design the shear resistance of Beam ABCD.

$1\mathrm{.}3$ Use software to solve this problem $($you are required to be confined to the exact parameters of the

question above$).$
